Celebrating Our Aspire Family Fun Days 2026
Aspire Family Fun Days have become a valued part of our summer holiday activities for families across Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. Although these events are still relatively new, they have quickly grown into welcoming community days that bring children, parents and carers together for play, creativity and connection. Each Fun Day offers hands‑on activities, outdoor experiences and opportunities for families to meet organisations from across the Family Hub Network, creating a relaxed space to enjoy time together and access support in one place.
Brockworth Family Fun Day - 21 July 2026
Brockworth - Family Fun Day
This summer’s events have continued to build on that approach. Our Brockworth Family Fun Day took place on Tuesday 21 July at Brockworth Children and Family Centre and offered families an afternoon filled with activity and conversation. We welcomed 110 adults and 189 children, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere throughout the afternoon. The mix of activities, partner organisations and outdoor play meant families were able to enjoy a relaxed summer event while connecting with local support in a simple, informal way. Children enjoyed bubble entertainment drifting across the outdoor space, alongside arts and crafts, outdoor games and creative sessions. Parents and carers were able to meet organisations offering advice, guidance and practical support. Partners joining us included the National Deaf Children’s Society, Gloucestershire Deaf Association, The Children’s Society, Parent Carer Alliance, Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum, Severn Wye Energy, School Nurses and Health Visitors, Early Language Support for Every Child and others. The event had a warm, community feel and gave families a chance to enjoy a summer activity close to home.
The Brockworth Family Fun Day received thoughtful and heartfelt feedback from parents and carers, who spoke warmly about the atmosphere and the range of activities on offer. Many families shared how welcoming and supportive the staff were, with one parent describing how the calm, friendly environment helped ease their anxiety and made it easier to enjoy time out of the house with their child. Others appreciated the variety of activities for different ages, from creative sessions and outdoor play to the excitement of meeting Elsa. Families valued the food provided for children, the quiet indoor space for younger and SEN children, and the sense of safety throughout the event. Several people mentioned how much they enjoyed collecting stamps from each stall holder, as it encouraged them to speak with organisations they might not otherwise have approached and led to some of the most helpful conversations of the afternoon. Feedback also highlighted how well organised the event felt, how much there was for children to do, and how meaningful it was that everything was free and accessible. Suggestions for future events were gentle and practical, including ideas such as more shade on hot days, a few extra seats for adults, and additional activities for older children. Overall, families described Brockworth as a lovely, friendly and enjoyable afternoon, with many saying there was nothing they would change.

Gardners Lane - Family Fun Day
The Gardners Lane Family Fun Day took place on 18 August and brought families together for a lively and welcoming afternoon at Gardners Lane Children and Family Centre. We welcomed 118 families, 202 children and 38 new families, creating a busy and friendly atmosphere throughout the day. The event offered a mix of creative activities, outdoor play and circus skills, giving children plenty to explore while parents and carers connected with local organisations. Families enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts and outdoor games, which helped create a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Partners attending included St Pauls Primary Care, St Pauls Hub, Springbank Community Group, Fresh Hope, Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum, Severn Wye Energy, School Nurses and Health Visitors, Early Language Support for Every Child, Move More and others. The afternoon had a warm community feel and gave families a chance to enjoy time together during the summer holidays.
Families who shared feedback about the Gardners Lane Family Fun Day spoke warmly about the atmosphere and the wide range of free activities available throughout the afternoon. Many parents and carers appreciated how much there was for children to enjoy without any cost, describing how this created a relaxed and inclusive environment. Several families highlighted the creative activities, face painting, outdoor games and child‑friendly stalls, noting that their children were happily occupied and able to explore at their own pace. Some parents mentioned how valuable it was to have a space where children could engage in different activities while they took a moment to catch up with friends or speak with organisations. The bingo trail was a particular favourite, with children enjoying collecting stamps as they moved around the event. Feedback also reflected how friendly and welcoming the staff and partners were, and how well organised the afternoon felt. Suggestions for future events were minimal, with most families saying there was nothing they would change. Overall, families described Gardners Lane as a lively, enjoyable and well‑run event that offered a meaningful and accessible afternoon for all ages.
Family Fun Days are created to give children space to play, learn and explore, while offering parents and carers simple ways to access information and support. Activities vary from event to event, but the aim remains the same: to provide a welcoming, enjoyable day for families during the summer holidays.
Alongside these Fun Days, our Children and Family Centres run a wide range of activities throughout the year, including early years play sessions, parenting support, holiday programmes and community events.
